Muggy today, feeling close to 100 tomorrow
Storms arrive Friday evening, clearing out for Saturday
Good morning!
It’s a warm and muggy start this morning compared to what we had earlier this week, and with lots of sunshine around today we will quickly warm up. By around 10am we’re up into the 80s inland, and this afternoon we will reach the middle-to-upper 80s with temperatures feeling more like 90. We do have a gusty southerly breeze today, and that will keep us cooler along the South Coast today and tomorrow. For that reason, we have a heat advisory that goes into effect at 11a today for Providence and Kent counties, as well as the northern half of Bristol County, MA.
That heat advisory remains in effect until 8pm tomorrow, and tomorrow is when the heat and humidity really peak. By the afternoon, heat index “feels like” values will jump to over 100 inland. Then a cold front moves through in the afternoon and evening hours, and this will trigger some shower/storm activity. The timeframe for these storms is about 3-8pm or so, and they could bring some downpours, gusty winds, and small hail. Be sure to keep an eye to the sky and stay weather aware tomorrow as these storms pass through.
The good news is, this front clears out quicker than we were expecting earlier this week, so Saturday is now looking dry for the most part! This will be the pick of the weekend, as shower and storm chances return Sunday afternoon with another frontal system.
Have a great day!
