House fire in East Providence displaces four

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Crews battled a fire at a home on Second Street in East Providence Monday afternoon.

According to the Red Cross, the two-family home went into flames around 1 p.m.

Officials said at the time of the fire, there were three residents on the second floor and one on the first. All residents were able to escape, although the first floor lost both their cat and a dog.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and it’s unclear if the home is a total loss.

The State Fire Marshal is on scene investigating.
