Multiple people injured after fireworks display ‘caught fire’ at country club on Cape Cod
MASHPEE, Mass. (WLNE) — Multiple people are injured after a fireworks explosion at a country club in Mashpee on Wednesday afternoon, according to WCVB.
Massachusetts State Police said troopers responded to the Seabury Country Club on Fairway Lane around 4:45 p.m. to assist Mashpee police for an incident involving a fireworks display.
According to MSP, fireworks were being unloaded for a permitted fireworks’ display when it had caught fire.
Boston affiliate WCVB reported that one person was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. Three others suffered minor injuries, and an additional six others were treated on scene.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office, MSP Crime Scene Services Section, and Cape & Islands State Police Detective Unit were also called to assist.
The incident is under investigation.
