Multiple reports of shots fired in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the city Sunday night into Monday.

Police first responded to the intersection of Andem and Alton Streets for a report of shots fired around 6:45 p.m on Sunday.

Witnesses told police that they heard around 7-8 gun shots in the area and observed an older model black Toyota travel at a high rate of speed down Andem Street towards Academy Avenue.

Police canvassed the area but were unable to find a suspect.

Just after midnight on Monday morning, police received additional reports of shots fired, this time in the area of Broad and Moore Streets.

Police say they located a home on Broad Street with a bullet hole in the window.

After securing the scene, police located 5 shell casings and one projectile.

Police also note that after the first initial report of shots fired, Detective Sergeant Vieira conducted a motor vehicle stop of a possible fleeing vehicle at the McDonald’s on Broad Street.

Vieira located a bullet hole located in the driver’s side rear door.  The driver, 23-year-old Felix Calderon stated that he had just been shot at on Broad Street, but was uncooperative with police and did not have a complaint at the time.
