Mystic Aquarium releases harbor seal in Charlestown

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Mystic Aquarium said it released its last seal of the season in Charlestown on Wednesday.
The seal, named Sugar Plum, was stranded in Rye, New Hampshire on Oct. 16 with serious injuries to his hind flippers.
The aquarium said Sugar Plum was rescued by the Seacoast Science Center and was rehabilitated in Mystic, where he gained 10 pounds and was finally released.
Mystic Aquarium said it helped return 27 sea turtles and 21 seals back to the wild in 2025.
