Nantucket to vote on allowing beachgoers to go topless

A vote in Nantucket could give all beachgoers the freedom to go topless this summer.

The proposal, entitled “Gender Equality on Beaches,” is one of many articles being considered at the annual town meeting Monday night.

The resident who submitted the proposal said it’s meant to promote equality for everyone, allowing any person to be topless on any private of public beach within the town.

The town meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the Nantucket High School.
