NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Education has announced the recipient of Rhode Island’s 2026 State Teacher of the Year.

Narragansett High School English Teacher Sarah Dully, who began teaching in 2012 and joined NHS in 2020, was awarded the title on Tuesday.

Narragansett Schools Superintendent Dr. Peter Cummings described Dully as “an incredible teacher who expects the best from her students while providing the support, encouragement, and energy to make it possible for learners to meet her high expectations.”

In addition to teaching English, she is a National Honor Society Advisor and was the Class of 2025 Advisor.

“I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with Sarah over the past few months. Teaching is more than a job for her. Teaching is her calling,” RIDE Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green said. ”Sarah understands the importance of keeping students engaged in their learning.”

In her new role, Dully will work with RIDE to support education across Rhode Island for the 2025-2026 school year.
