Navigating the 128th Boston Marathon

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The 128th Boston Marathon will kick off Monday, and if your commute takes you through or near Boston, here’s what you need to know.

Start times vary for this morning, but the men’s wheelchair division kicks things off in Hopkinton at 9 a.m.

Heading into the city, the last 4.2 miles of the marathon route cover Brookline and Boston.

In Brookline, travelers can expect roads to be closed from about 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

If you’re planning to either participate or spectate today, city officials urge you not to drive, but to take the MBTA or City Bikes instead.
