New Bedford charter school mourns passing of special education teacher

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A charter school in New Bedford is mourning the loss of one of their special education teachers on Tuesday.
According to the Global Learning Charter Public School, 39-year-old Emily Zeida, a sixth grade special education teacher passed away after suffering a heart attack on December 6.
Zeida is survived by her husband Rob and her two children, James, 11, and Samantha, 7.
The school said it will be having an early release at 1 p.m. on Thursday as Zeida’s funeral is scheduled for that afternoon.
Grief counselors are also available at the school for those who need them.
The Global Learning Charter Public School will be hosting a dress-down on Friday Dec. 15, where students and staff who donate more than two dollars can dress down.
All money collected from the event will go directly to the Zeida family.
