New Bedford fentanyl trafficker sentenced to almost 8 years
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said that a New Bedford fentanyl dealer was sentenced to nearly eight years in state prison.
Felix Berrios Colon pled guilty to charges of trafficking in fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The 42-year-old was arrested on Dec. 19, 2022 after a search warrant was executed by police.
Quinn said that after searching Colon and his apartment the police found 109 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of cocaine, digital scales, and a total of $2,561 in cash.
When he was arrested it was discovered that Colon was using an alias, “Luis Mejias,” as he was in the country illegally, and he had previously failed to appear in court for a similar case out of Essex County.
Quinn said that Colon was sentenced to serve six to eight years.
