New Bedford fentanyl trafficker sentenced to up to 10 years
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said a 35-year-old fentanyl trafficker was sentenced to serve up to 10 years.
Ramon Genao pled guilty to trafficking in excess of 100 grams of fentanyl.
Genao was arrested in 2021 for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after being surveilled by police.
During a search warrant of his his person and his home found over 200 grams of fentanyl, $2,440 in cash, a receipt for a $1,500 money order sent to the Dominican Republic, as well as assorted drug-dealing equipment.
Quinn said Genao was sentenced to serve eight to ten years in state prison.
He added that Genao was not a U.S. citizen, and would0 “likely be deported upon completion of his state prison sentence.”
