New Bedford Fire displaces 11, sends 1 to hospital

NEW BEDFORD, M.A. – Eleven people were displaced and one woman sent to hospital after a fire in a New Bedford home Monday night.

Fire crews say they were dispatched to 1050 Pleasant Street around 8:22 p.m. for the report of a fire on the third floor of the residence.  

Once residents were evacuated, fire crews were able to contain damage to the room of origin.

Authorities say one woman was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, but was soon air-lifted to another hospital.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
