New Bedford firefighters extinguish garbage fire

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Fire Department said it extinguished a fire that originated in a garbage truck Wednesday morning.

The department said that calls came in around 9 a.m. of a garbage truck on fire near a building.

The truck driver moved the truck away from the building and then dumped the burning contents into an open area, which the department then extinguished.
