New Bedford firefighters help deliver baby girl

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Fire Department said that firefighters helped deliver a baby girl in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

The incident occurred on Katherine Street around 4 a.m.

The mother had delivered the child by the time firefighters had arrived, and they clamped the umbilical cord in order to allow the father to cut it.

The mother and infant were then transferred to St. Luke’s hospital.
