New Bedford man arrested for alleged cocaine trafficking

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A man was arrested for his alleged role in a cocaine trafficking operation run out of a New Bedford apartment.

Police said 46-year-old Jose Soto-Torres was taken into custody on Monday after detectives seized 130 grams of cocaine from his south-end apartment on Roosevelt Street.

Authorities said a small amount of heroin and drug-distribution materials were also found in the apartment, along with $161 in drug-related cash.

Soto-Torres was charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 100 grams and possession of a class A substance, according to officials.

Police said anyone with information can share it with officials by anonymously leaving a tip on their website or calling 508-99-CRIME.
