New Bedford man arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into jail
NEW BEFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office said a New Bedford man for attempting to smuggle a large amount of cocaine into the Dartmouth Jail.
28-year-old Raymond Molina-Caraballo was charged with trafficking a Class B substance, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, and delivering drugs or articles to a prisoner.
The sheriff’s office said that the arrest was part of an investigation into a former inmate who was allegedly attempting to get himself arrested to smuggle drugs back into the jail.
Inmates allegedly identified Molina-Caraballo, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was the person behind the plan.
He was held in court on Aug. 26 and a search of his person allegedly found over 11 grams of suspected crack cocaine, as well as nearly 26 grams of suspected powdered cocaine.
