New Bedford man arrested in Acushnet for armed robbery

ACUSHNET, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford man has been arrested after an armed robbery involving a firearm.
Acushnet Police responded to New England Farms gas station on Friday, June 21 to reports of a man who entered the station in all black, with a mask covering the lower portion of his face, and wearing gloves.
According to police, he immediately brandished a firearm and demanded money from the clerk.
The suspect exited the store after receiving cash from the register, and was last seen heading toward Wing Road.
Authorities were able to locate him a nearby residence hiding in a closet, and he was identified at 36-year-old James E. Stanzione of New Bedford.
The cash stolen in the robbery was recovered, as well as the Glock replica BB pistol used.
He was charged with robbery while armed with a firearm and masked, and was taken into custody with outstanding warrants.
