New Bedford man arrested twice in one day for allegedly selling drugs

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford man was arrested twice in one day for allegedly selling drugs.
Police said Danilson Moniz, 19, faces two counts of distributing crack cocaine and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws after he was arrested twice last Thursday.
An officer reportedly saw a drug deal around 1 p.m. on Acushnet Avenue in the area of Delano Street.
Moniz was accused of selling a baggie of crack cocaine to 45-year-old Edwin Reyes.
Both were taken into custody. Police said Moniz had $160 in cash from the alleged drug deal.
Moniz was arraigned in New Bedford District Court and was released without bail.
Detectives on patrol in the south end saw Moniz near the bars on County Street around 7 p.m.
Police said he got into a vehicle and made his way to Buttonwood Park.
He was seen speaking with a man when a second alleged drug deal took place.
Detectives stopped the man, 57-year-old Anthony Darosa of North Dartmouth, who allegedly had a baggie of crack cocaine.
Moniz was later found near the bars and was taken into custody again, carrying $70 cash.
Danilson was released from the Bristol County Jail House a short time later.
Police said Danilson has previous drug charges from November and December last year.
Reyes and Darosa were both charged with possession of a class B substance and conspiracy.
