New Bedford man charged with illegally carrying firearm

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford man has been charged with illegally carrying a firearm after being arrested Monday morning.

Around 10 a.m. a call came in saying a man with a pistol in his waistband was walking on County Street near Coggeshall St.

Officers located a man matching the description and approached and searched him, discovering the firearm.

Jonatas Mendes, 40, of New Bedford, was arrested for carrying the 38-caliber revolver without a license.
