New Bedford murder suspect held without bail

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A man accused of stabbing and killing a man back on Oct. 3 will be held without bail.

32-year-old Angel Avelino, of Lynn, was charged with murder in the death of 51-year-old Jesus Torres.

According to prosecutors, Avelino was depicted on surveillance cameras approaching the victim with a knife.

Surveillance, taken from city cameras and a nearby business, also allegedly shows when the attack occurred.

The suspect was allegedly seen following the victim with a woman.

Avelino currently has six open court cases in Lynn District Court.

His next court date is set to be held on November 8.
