New Bedford Police arrest man after series of commercial truck breaking and enterings

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said it arrested a man as part of an investigation into a series of thefts from commercial trucks.

47-year-old Daniel Pedro was charged with 12 counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle, eight counts of larceny over $1,200, larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property greater than $1,200, and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Police said Pedro was arrested after allegedly stealing “tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of tools and air compressors.”

When he was arrested on July 10, he allegedly had the tools in the back of his truck.

The department said Pedro has 13 prior convictions for breaking and entering.

He was held on $30,000 bail and is currently in the custody of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department.
