New Bedford Police arrest wanted 17-year-old with gun

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said it arrested a wanted 17-year-old on May 5.

He was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammo without an FID card, and a warrant arrest for three active warrants.

The department said officers were conducting surveillance on the South End when they spotted the juvenile around 6:30 p.m.

The officers then briefly pursued the suspect on foot before taking him into custody.

Police allegedly found a a Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum loaded with four rounds of ammo on the 17-year-old.

The juvenile was transported to Brockton and was ordered not to receive bail.
