New Bedford police believe shooting at bar was accidental

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when a gun went off at a bar in New Bedford Sunday night.

Police said officers responded to the Whiskey Lounge on Acushnet Avenue at about 7 p.m. for a reported shots fired incident.

They saw “a shooting scene” at the bar on arrival, authorities said.

Shortly after, they learned a man had arrived at St. Luke’s Hospital with a gunshot wound.

No arrests were made. While the incident remains under investigation, police initially believe the shooting happened when a gun went off on accident.
