New Bedford police: Fentanyl, cocaine, $5,758 in cash seized in arrest

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police detectives arrested two suspects after observing what they believed to be a drug deal on Church Street Thursday night.
The detectives arrested Andy Coakley, 37, of New Bedford, a known drug dealer, according to New Bedford police.
Also arrested was Kenneth Medeiros, 45.
The officers observed the two men meeting for what they believed was a drug transaction around 8 p.m.
After stopping the suspects, detectives said that Coakley was found in possession of 104.2 grams of cocaine, 57 grams of fentanyl and an additional bag containing fentanyl weighing 11.5 grams.
Also found on Coakley was $5,758 in cash, which police say was a results of drug proceeds.
Medeiros was found in possession of 6.8 grams of Adderall and two bags containing 4.9 grams of suspected cocaine.
Coakley was charged with distribution of cocaine, trafficking in excess of 100 grams or more of cocaine, trafficking in excess of 36 grams or more of fentanyl, conspiracy to violate the drug law and resisting arrest.
Police said that Coakley has 31 adult arraignments and two convictions for dealing cocaine and marijuana.
His 26 other arraignments have been dismissed.
Medeiros was charged with possession.
