New Bedford police make second arrest in September shooting

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A second arrest has been made in a September 24 shooting that occurred in the Blue Meadows housing development, according to New Bedford Police.
Daziere Colton, 20, was arrested on October 17 by Major Crimes Division detectives and charged with assault by discharge of a firearm, receiving a stolen vehicle and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Colton is accused alongside Tyrell Pratt, 20, of New Bedford, in the shooting that wounded two victims.
Pratt was arrested earlier in October and was in possession of a firearm when taken into custody.
“We have made this brazen shooting a top priority, and I’m proud to announce that two arrests have been made,” said New Bedford Police Chief Paul Oliveira.
“I’m also confident that there are more arrests on the way.”
