New Bedford Police say moped crash lead to firearm arrest

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said that a moped crash on Dec. 30 led to a firearm seizure and arrest.
18-year-old Kaydence Andrade was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a serial number and without a license.
Police said that a crash occurred at the intersection of Parker Street and Cottage Street where a moped failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle.
Andrade allegedly fled the scene on foot and was later found carrying a defaced Walther p22 loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition.
Police alleged that Andrade did not have a license to carry a firearm in Massachusetts.
