New Bedford to celebrate Portugal

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Portugal Flag will be raised over city hall as tonight as part of the city’s “Day of Portugal” celebrations.

The ceremony is the 26st year the city has celebrated Portugal in honor of their Portuguese communities.

The flag raising will include a performance by the Children’s Folkloric Group, and will be attended by Mayor of Ponta Delgada and Dr. Rogerio Cabral, the Portuguese Consul in New Bedford.

The ceremony will start the four-day celebration of Portuguese culture, with a three day feast.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m.
