NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Mayor Jon Mitchell will join New Bedford city officials today to celebrate the reopening of Ashley Park.

The ribbon cutting will mark the end of a year-long $1.7 million transformation of the popular park in the Goulart Square neighborhood.

Ashley Park is the home of a community center, softball field, and a basketball court.

During its transformation, over 5 acres of the park did remain open.

The ceremony will start at 11 a.m.
