New Bedford woman charged with animal cruelty

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said a woman was charged with animal cruelty after an incident on March 1.

32-year-old Lynette Ayala was charged with one count of animal cruelty.

Police said they responded to a report of a woman who said her dog was shot with a pellet gun.

The department said that security camera footage captured the sound of two loud bangs with her dog limping in pain and visibly injured.
