NEW BEDFORD, MA – Walter DaSilva, 45, reportedly confessed to brutally killing his 19–year–old daughter, Sabrina, because she wanted to spend time with her boyfriend on father’s day. Now many are questioning why DaSilva was even in the country.  He is an illegal immigrant.

"The fact that the system is such, that he was able to get back in here, and to be able to go and kill his own daughter, should alarm everyone in this country,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told ABC6 News.

Sheriff Hodgson explained DaSilva was deported to Brazil, after spending 10 years in jail for trying to kill his wife. He managed to get back, into the country with help from drug lords, in Mexico.

"He connected with a coyote through a drug cartel, they know all of the routes to get in, they know all of the diversions,” said Sheriff Hodgson.  “He connected with a coyote, the coyote got him across the border, and he was basically scott–free to move around this country."

It’s a path Sheriff Hodgson argued is way too common. He’s calling for tighter border security, especially knowing DaSilva had plans to murder again.

"He said after he was going to kill his daughter initially, he was going to kill his wife and his daughter’s boyfriend. So this is a guy who already had a predisposition of anger, violence, and a threat to kill people."
