A 20-year-old man from Pawtucket was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash on Route 6 in Providence.
State Police say Onasi Olio-Rojas was speeding in his Honda Civic and driving erratically when he lost control of his car and slid sideways, striking a Waste Management dump truck coming off the ramp. His car rear-ended the truck on the driver’s side of his vehicle.
His vehicle then shot across three lanes and struck the barrier. No one else was injured.
Olio-Rojas was trapped inside his car when crews arrived. The jaws of life were used to take him out.
Police say speed was a major factor. Three lanes of the highway were closed to traffic for about 2 hours.
