NEW DETAILS: Two men, 80 and 81, killed in Tiverton shooting

UPDATE: Police say the man killed in Pocasset Hill Cemetery was 81-year-old John Cloud from Kingston, MA. The man involved in the homicide was 80-year-old Edward Acquisto of Tiverton.

Tiverton, RI – Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that has left two elderly men dead. One man was killed at Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Fall River and the suspect in that shooting was killed in a shootout with police a short time later on Ford Farm Road in Tiverton.

Gunfire first occurred on Monday Evening at Pocasset Cemetery in Fall River. The suspect fled in a black vehicle and ended up on Ford Farm Rd. in Tiverton. The suspect, who has not been identified, fired on police and was then shot and killed by Tiverton and Fall River Police.

The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office and Rhode Island State Police are investigating as is protocol with all officer involved shootings.
