New Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines may soon make online user accounts more secure.
The FCC approved new privacy rules requiring internet service providers to ask for customer permission before sharing their data to advertisers. This could mean you could stop seeing all those targeted ads online.
Consumer advocates say this move is beneficial to consumer safety while industry groups oppose the measures saying these are stricter regulations than those for Google and Facebook.
