New leadership at Fall River schools as Tansey Elementary faces district reconstructing

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River School Committee will meet tonight following the vote of a new Superintendent of Fall River Schools.

Doctor Travey Curley was chosen as the new Superintendent, which led to the recent resignation of a school board member, Sara Rodrigues.

Tonight’s meeting will focus on the transition of superintendents, and appointing an early learning center principal, according to the meeting agenda.

The meeting will also include the discussion of the start and end times of next year’s school year.

Back in March, the Fall River School Committee was met with criticism as the school board was set to vote to change Tansey Elementary from a K-5 school into a Pre-K school.

The proposal would have merged Tansey with Spencer Borden to make space for expanded Pre-K classes, but the board decided to delay its decision, as parents claimed they were “blindsided” that it was even a possibility.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public, and will also allow public input.
