There’s a new pain-relief option for people who suffer from debilitating lower back pain or sciatica, and it is only available at the CSC at Rhode Island Hospital.
It’s a new generation of a spinal cord stimulator that blocks pain signals from reaching the brain.
According to Alexios Carayannopoulos, D.O., M.P.H., “Unlike older versions of spinal cord stimulators, this latest technology is tingling and vibration-free.”
This new stimulator is ideal for anyone who wants a minimally invasive and non-destructive therapy to reduce or eliminate back pain. Additionally, this type of therapy is also reversible and non-pharmaceutical.
Dr. Carayannopoulos, confirms that clinical trials in the U.S. and in Europe have proven this spinal cord stimulator to be superior to traditional spinal cord stimulators for the treatment of pain.
Being paresthesia-free, this is the only spinal cord stimulator therapy approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be used without restrictions on motor vehicle operation.
Dr. Carayannopoulos was the first physician to implant the device in the region.
