New Providence homeless shelter at capacity, ECHO Village expected to be full soon
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — All 16 beds are occupied at a new emergency homeless shelter in Providence.
That’s according to a spokesperson with the state department of housing.
The department of housing and Amos House opened the new shelter a few days ago.
The shelter is located at the old Charlesgate Apartments on Randall Street.
The shelter is only open to people 55 and older.
In March, the shelter will continue move-ins until the shelter reaches capacity.
40 new beds are expected to be open.
And also in Providence, it’s been nearly a week since the ECHO Village pallet shelter community opened.
Move-ins are currently underway and a spokesperson for the House of Hope says the shelters should be at full capacity within the next week.
