PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A new television series about farming in Rhode Island will soon begin airing.
The state Department of Environmental Management says the five-part series, “Harvesting Rhode Island,” begins at 6 p.m. Sunday on Rhode Island PBS.
DEM Director Janet Coit says the informative series brings viewers on location to see the farms, meet the farmers and hear them talk about food cultivation.
DEM says it provided a $35,000 grant to produce the series, as part of its efforts to maintain the viability of farming.
The first episode features Desi and Eric Wolf, of Maple Dell Farm in Foster, talking about the farm-to-table movement. They also own Loie Fuller’s restaurant in Providence.
Later episodes feature local farms, vineyards, nurseries, a land trust and a grocery store that sells local natural products.
