Governor Raimondo got a helping hand Wednesday with her duties leading the state.

Thompson Middle School 5th grader Khatima Bulmer was officially sworn in as “Governor for a Day” by State Supreme Court Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg at the State House.

Khatima was chosen out of nearly 600 students for the job, which includes a day filled with legislative meetings and an Earth Day celebration.

The new Governor says she hopes she can inspire others to follow their dreams.

“Lots of people can achieve things young and old, and I’m pretty young, so they can do lots of things.”

Khatima says she’s not ruling out a career in politics…someday.
