Newport celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with annual parade Saturday
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — We’re just a few days away from St. Patrick’s day and everyone is getting ready to celebrate how they know best, wearing their green and maybe enjoying a beer or two.
In Newport, the celebration begins on Saturday with their annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.
The parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Newport City Hall and will run down to Washington Square and Thames Street and then wrap up by the Saint Augustin Church.
It is going to be a busy day, so make sure that you arrive early, and with heavy traffic expected in the area, police will have a parking ban in effect from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The bans will be on Broadway from Cranston Avenue to Washington Square at Thames Street, Lower Thames Street from America’s Cup Avenue to Morton Avenue, Narragansett Ave between Spring Street and Bellevue Ave, as well as both sides of America’s Cup Avenue at the Gateway Center.
All of those parking bans can be found here.
There will be public parking available at the Gateway center on America’s Cup Ave if you are planning to come to the parade.
