Newport firefighters battle blaze Saturday
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Fire Department fought a fire on Tilley Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters told ABC 6 News that they believe the fire started in the basement of the home and spread up a wall to the upper levels.
Neighbors also told ABC 6 that the residents of the home were out of town during the fire.
Ladders could be seen going up to the second floor of the two story residence. There were also firefighters in gear going in and out of the home.
The fire remains under investigation by the Newport Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
