Newport man facing child pornography charges

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — A Newport man is facing child pornography charges after he allegedly enticed a minor to “engage in illicit sexual activity” on two occasions, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Kyle Patrick Tormey was charged with coercion and enticement of a minor, attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, receipt of child pornography, and possession of child pornography.

According to Acting United States Attorney Bloom, Tormey allegedly frequently communicated with a female minor on multiple forms of social media, “enticing the young girl to meet with him to engage in illicit sexual activity.”

According to court documents, law enforcement allegedly found multiple photos of the minor victim in “various stages of undress” in Tormey’s social media account, as well as conversations with the victim.

Police also allegedly found multiple photos of other minors that “constituted child sexual abuse material” in the social media account, according to Acting United States Attorney Bloom.
