Newport man seriously injured after weekend assault

Police are searching for a suspect after an assault of a Newport man early Saturday morning.

The assault happened on Bliss Road near Wilbur Avenue just after 1:30 a.m.

Police say a 28-year-old sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
