Newport Pell, Jamestown Verrazzano bridges reopen after hours long closure

JAMESTOWN, RI (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) have reopened the Newport Pell Bridge and Jamestown Verrazano Bridge after it was closed for a couple of hours due to Tropical Storm Henri.
Automobiles, pickup trucks, flatbed trailers, commercial buses and heavy-laden tractor/trailers may cross these bridges. In addition, any vehicle that, in the opinion of law-enforcement personnel, may not safely cross the bridge will be prohibited from traveling these bridges.
RITBA says motorists who are denied passage will be assisted with safely turning around.
People can check bridge conditions and closures at ritba.org.
