Newport police searching for owner of abandoned dog

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding the owner of a dog that was found unattended in Braga Park early Monday morning.

Police say the dog was left tied to a sign post in the park near the Kay Street entrance and is presumed to be abandoned.

The Newport Police Department shared this photo of the dog they say was abandoned in Braga Park.

Anyone who recognizes the dog or knows anything about its owners should contact the Newport Animal Control Officer at 401-847-1306.
