Newscast Producer

WLNE-TV/ABC 6, the ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island is looking for a creative and collaborative full-time Newscast Producer! The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, who takes ownership of their newscast and understands relevant news coverage and viewer benefit. The producer will coordinate daily with the rest of the news team to create the highest quality newscast and to present that content in creative ways.

Responsibilities:

-Produce daily newscast that fulfills station brand and promise to the audience.

-Write newscast scripts.

-Works with other producers on “showcasing” of newscast elements.

-Post digital content.

-Collaborate with Assignment Editors, Producers and Reporters on breaking news coverage.

-Fill-in produce additional newscasts as needed.

-Work with news managers to achieve goals.

Qualifications:

-Local TV newscast producing experience preferred.

-Excellent writing skills.

-Solid news judgement.

-Excellent communication skills.

-Ability to work well within a team.

Education:

-Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field.
