No Halloween for Foxboro, At Least not on the 31st

It's early in the Patriots football season, but they're already causing the folks who live in the town of Foxboro to get defensive!
It's not the Patriots fault but, the Foxboro town council decided to change the day that kids can trick or treat from Sunday, the 31st, to Saturday the 30th. It just so happens that the Patriots play on Sunday at 4:15 and the traffic that would be on the streets after the game would be dangerous for kids.
Of course, a lot parents and kids are upset, saying, the town is ruining the tradition of the children going out on the thirty-first to get those treats! Karen Jones, who has lived in Foxboro for 22 years, has a 12 year old and was very upset about the move saying, “It's something that they always look forward to because it's always on the same day”.
I thought about my experience as kid and Halloween was a big deal for me! The anticipation of that day was strong! Of course, that was a long time ago and it was a different world then and because we live in different times, I think the council made the right move! It could be a potential nightmare: Patriots fans, would be leaving around 8 or 9 o'clock with kids still out on the streets! Most communities take the precaution of starting the little trick or treaters as early as possible, making sure that they are home before dark, but not every one follows the same rules.
The New England Patriots are fully supportive of the town's decision. You might say, of course they are! But it makes sense: Safety first! A lot of folks I talked to are in agreement and someone suggested that maybe we should designate the last Saturday in October for the kids to get those treats, saying it would make it easier on the parents, Police and all who care about the most important thing on Halloween: The kids getting the candy and arriving home safely to enjoy it.
