No one injured in East Providence commercial building fire
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence Fire Department said there were no injuries during a fire at a commercial building despite a mayday being called.
Acting Chief Michael Carey said that a fire broke out in the center of a 40,000 square foot commercial building on Patton Road.
He said the mayday was called because a person was missing, but was located in less than five minutes.
Carey said the fire was hidden behind a pallet box, and that it took a few hours in order to get enough ventilation to fully put it out.
He added that there was damage to the roof on a point directly above the fire but it should be repairable.
Members of the Barrington, Pawtucket, and Providence Fire Departments assisted with putting out the fire.
ABC 6 News crews on scene saw smoke pouring from a building on Patton Road.
