Rain and wind moving through

High pressure is slowly retreating to the north somewhat on tonight as Low pressure moves up the coastline. The pressure gradient between these two systems will be the cause for the increasing winds through Monday morning that will gradually relax through Tuesday. Winds will be gusting 40-50MPH along the south coast and on the Cape while further inland gusts will be more in the 30-35mph range.

Periods of rain will be heavy at times through the morning and ease up during the afternoon, but showers and drizzle will continue through Tuesday morning. It does appear that we will be in for a good 1.5 – 2.5 inches of rain for most of the region, but it is possible that some locations could see up to 3 inches. The good news here is that it will be spread out over 36-48 hours so it won’t be coming down all at once causing flooding issues. That being said make sure to clear the storm drains from leaves that may be clogging things up.

After that things will dry out for the second half of the week as it cools down.
