Nor’easter to bring rain and coastal concerns through Thursday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A dreary next few days is setting up for Southern New England. Overnight, the rain will continue through tomorrow morning before briefly tapering off.
More rain comes back by midday and will last until early Thursday. A general 1-2″ is expected in this time frame, with locally higher amounts.
This will lead to more minor river flooding for the usual suspects (Pawtuxet, Wood, Pawcatuck, Taunton).
We are also looking at a coastal wind and flooding threat. Winds at the coast could reach 50+ mph, leading to spotty outages.
Thursday a.m. high tides will run 1-2′ about normal, which will create minor to moderate coastal flooding.
Temperatures will be chilly throughout, with daytime highs only reaching the low-40s.
The Nor’easter will weaken and slowly pull away Friday into the weekend, but we are looking at more clouds than sun into Saturday.
Sunday is looking brighter, with warmer temperatures.
Our long-awaited solar eclipse day on Monday is looking pretty good, mostly sunny and highs near 60!
