North Attleboro attorney accused of stealing $2 million from clients
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A North Attleboro and Haverhill resident and attorney has been charged with defrauding clients of more than $2 million, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Patrick J. Dolan, 60, has been charged with four counts of wire fraud after allegedly stealing millions from an escrow account between November of 2018 and November of 2024.
This was during a period when a family trust lawsuit was still playing out.
Dolan represented one of the parties involved in this legal action.
Dolan is alleged to have used the stolen funds for mortgage and student loan payments, along with personal purchases.
The funds were transferred to family member accounts or shell companies according to the U.S. Attorney.
He is also alleged to have stolen $87,500 from a supplemental needs trust that he set up for a client.
Dolan then allegedly used this money to make a down payment on property in Haverhill.
False statements to clients and falsified bank statements and accounting records were allegedly used by Dolan to conceal his actions.
Dolan is facing up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
